And so the political field day surrounding Democalypse 2016 has begun.
Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) became the first person to officially announce that he’s running for President instead of just making presidential plans public, like politicians such as Jeb Bush and Donald Trump have already done. But as Cruz showed on his first day as a presidential candidate, it takes a lot of planning to make that sort of splash in the political arena.
Naturally, Jon Stewart used Monday night’s episode of The Daily Show to highlight the holes in Cruz’s best-laid plans.
Cruz made his first speech at Liberty University, one of the most conservative schools in the country. But the students in his audience weren’t there by choice; the speech was mandatory. And when they’re forced to listen to someone they didn’t necessarily want to hear from on a Monday morning, even conservative college students will act out like children in whatever ways that they can.
