On this week’s episode of The Geek Awakens,  I watched Star Trek: The Original Series. I was expecting it to be really cheesy, since it was shot in the ’60s before CGI was used (and abused), but I was very wrong. The sets are great, the stories are compelling, and you gotta love the Shatmeister.

But I close-encountered a lot of TV history as well. Did you know that the original pilot didn’t include Captain Kirk? Or that NBC almost scrapped the show because it was “too cerebral”?

Star Trek really holds up, and I want to see more, but there is so much Trek out there! What should I watch next? Let me know by leaving me a comment on our  YouTube channel, and while you’re there, subscribe so you’ll never miss an episode. We also have a Facebook page, should that tickle your social media fancy.

Last week, I watched sci-fi classic Blade Runner for the first time, and it was… interesting.
