The changing faces of one very super Mario

Nintendo’s Mario looks a lot different 30 years later. That’s bound to happen when the video game character has featured in numerous titles of all different types throughout the decades. But now you can see just how Mario’s evolved all in one video made in celebration of a particularly beloved incarnation that marked its 30th anniversary this month.

Super Mario Bros. was released on Sept. 13, 1985, and kicked off a series of Super Mario games that have continued since. From that original Super Mario Bros. game to the recently released Super Mario Maker, Mario has evolved to look a little different from his original appearance in the ‘80s. To celebrate three decades of Super MarioDigg spliced together a look back at how everyone’s favorite Italian plumber has evolved.
