A new video from gaming news outlet Eurogamer confirms that Sony has a slimmer PlayStation 4 redesign.
Rumors about console update hit a fever pitch over the weekend as photos of a leaked PlayStation 4 slim unit hit the online marketplace GumTree. To make sure the leaked console wasn’t an elaborate hoax, Eurogamer sent Digital Foundry editor Richard Leadbetter to pay a visit the person who claimed they purchased the console from the GumTree listing.
Sure enough, the console is real, and a video posted to YouTube by Eurogamer showed it booting up.
In addition to a slimmer case, the console features cosmetic updates like rounded corners as well as a 500GB hard drive.
According to Eurogamer, the console is different from the more powerful PlayStation 4 codenamed Neo console, whose existence leaked earlier this year. That console is expected to be a beefier version of the PlayStation 4 that can handle PlayStation’s coming virtual reality hardware. The slim version is likely an update to the PlayStation 4’s base model.
Sony has not commented on any of the leaked information. It’s expected to announce both consoles at a press event on Sept. 7.
