Continuing Black Panther‘s theme of hiring the best actors you could possibly imagine, Angela Bassett has just joined the cast.

Bassett will play Queen Ramonda of Wakanda, stepmother of T’Challa the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman). She joins a star-studded cast that already includes Lupita Nyong’o, Michael B. Jordan, and Andy Serkis.

Ramonda is an influential figure in the comics, acting as an advisor to T’Challa after he inherits the throne of Wakanda from his father, King T’Chaka.

Directed by Ryan Coogler (Creed), Black Panther is due out in July 2018.
