Artist who did a year of doodles is back with stunning Harry Potter fanart

In 2014, Brazilian Deviantartist Gabriel Picolo saw his work go mainstream in a major way when his daily doodle project went viral. Picolo’s intricate ink drawings, many of which were dedicated to pop culture fanart, filled his notebooks and captivated viewers. 

But Picolo didn’t stop drawing, and now his work has gone viral again. This time, Tumblr has embraced Picolo’s gorgeous collection of Harry Potter fanart—a series of illustrations of famous magical elements from the beloved fantasy series.

Picolo began drawing the spells last year, and they gradually evolved into an art series that’s gone viral multiple times on Tumblr. Picolo started with magical creatures and objects…

…and then moved on to a bevvy of spells and potions.

Picolo, a recent graphic design grad, told the Deviantart journal DepthRadius that his experience doodling regularly had taught him that “inspiration can come from just about anywhere in my life.” He certainly seems to have found plenty of in J.K. Rowling‘s fictional world.
