Attention wannabe comics creators: Here’s your chance to learn from a professional for free.

The California College of the Arts is offering a no-cost online comics course that’s open to the public starting Sept. 6. This is the second time CCA is offering the course, after an initial round debuted last spring with a staggering 7,189 students

Over the course of five classes, students will learn the basics of story telling, how time and space can be used in comics narratives, panel layout, and scene planning.

Eisner-nominated cartoonist and chair of CCA’s graduate comics program Matt Silady teaches the course. According to the program description, it’s ideal for both beginners and more seasoned artists who are interested in exploring comics as a way to tell stories.

You can sign up for the course and read the syllabus here. While there’s no cost for more casual students, college credit hours are available at the cost of $300 per credit.
