Whovians can start their countdown clocks!

Whovians can start their countdown clocks! We may not have an exact date for the premiere of Doctor Who Season 8, but thanks to a teaser trailer released by BBC America on Friday, we now know the Doctor will return sometime in August.

The trailer is only 15 seconds long and gives us the briefest of looks at Scottish actor Peter Capaldi as the Twelfth Doctor in the TARDIS. Capaldi’s Doctor appeared at the end of last year’s Christmas episode when the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, went through a rather quick regeneration. We last saw the Doctor and his current companion, Clara Oswald, inside a crashing TARDIS.

Even before appearing in a full episode, Capaldi has managed to win over many fans. With a return to an older Doctor (and showrunner Steven Moffat recently saying the flirty behavior of the character is over), it will be interesting to see what adventures Capaldi’s Doctor takes us on throughout time and space.

OK Internet, you win, we give in. We're still miffed that we don't have a female Doctor, but we're officially declaring our love for Peter Capaldi.
