Here’s what Billy Crystal would’ve sounded like as Buzz Lightyear

It's something to behold.

Billy Crystal famously turned down the role of Buzz Lightyear in Toy Story, something he has regretted ever since. But while he made up for it by accepting another role Pixar offered him—Mike Wazowski in Monsters Inc.—we now know what it might’ve looked like had he taken Pixar on the first time.

Originally uploaded in 2010 but recently resurfaced on Reddit, early test footage of Buzz Lightyear is animated to one of Crystal’s famous vents in When Harry Met Sally. The early animation is one thing, but hearing Crystal’s voice come out of Buzz is something else.

Now that we’ve seen Tim Allen take up Buzz’s mantle throughout the Toy Story trilogy, it’s difficult to imagine anyone else inhabiting that role. But good thing we’ve got both of them in the Pixar multiverse.
