A 5.9-magnitude earthquake rattled the East Coast at 1:51 p.m. Eastern Time. Damage reports for the quake, centered in Virginia, are just rolling in and people are turning to each other on Twitter, Facebook and other places online to communicate and share information.

This quake comes on top of 5.3 magnitude quake that jolted Colorado Monday night.

These are decent-sized quakes even by California standards. But they’re huge for areas that are not prepared for the earth to move.

We are bringing you reactions and news, via Storify, as they happen.
