Earlier today, the Daily Dot reported Megyn Kelly’s claim that pepper spray is “a food product, essentially.” If you’re about to buy some to spray on your steak though, be sure to check the Amazon product reviews first.
“Finally, something to put on my eggs in the morning that can give me the kind of spiciness I like in my food: the kind that causes blisters, swelling, and suffocation,” wrote one satisfied customer.
It’s protest by product review, the latest way for the outraged to vent about the UC Davis pepper spray debacle.
At publication, all of the 35 Amazon user reviews for Defense Technology 56895 MK-9 Stream, 1.3% Red Band/1.3% Blue Band Pepper Spray are either tongue-in-cheek or written by some extremely strong-stomached and militant users.
“I’m not sure how long this thing is supposed to take, but those miscreants didn’t move. I heard some of them may have gotten sick later but I expect my OC spray to work instantly… What happens if they were armed? or worse, registered democrats?” wrote a one-star reviewer.
It’s not just Amazon users who are in on the joke. On Twitter, 3,500 users linked to the pepper spray-review page today.
In fact, the entire joke originated on Twitter after Change.org (@Change) tweeted about it yesterday. Their tweet practically begs for a response:
