In 11 seconds, Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Chris Archer took a smitten fan on an emotional roller coaster that takes most of us an entire relationship to experience.

Rays fan Luke Albright called out to Archer at Friday night’s game against the Seattle Mariners, hoping to get the pitcher’s attention.

Archer heard him! He turned!

In a heartfelt profession of love, Albright blew Archer a kiss across multiple rows of dirty stadium seats and warm glasses of beer. The touching gesture sailed right into the pitcher’s face. Archer initially looked rather disgusted—baseball is a very serious sport and not a time for kisses.

But wait! With the dexterity only found in MLB pitchers of the highest caliber, Archer caught the romantic gesture in those pitcher hands of his.

The fan’s excitement was short-lived, however. Just as swiftly as Archer caught the kiss, he threw it back over the railing, sending it sailing into the dirt.

Goodbye, true love.
