When Gil Solano’s wife Sarah told him that she wanted a photo capturing their faces when their daughter was born, this might not have been what she originally had in mind.

Solano shared the life-changing selfie with Reddit on Monday just as Sarah was in the middle of giving birth. He originally sent the image to Sarah’s brother because he had asked about her progress. The photo truly captures it all—from his excitement about becoming a dad to Sarah’s concentration and pain.

While Reddit and Imgur initially feared for Solano, having captured such a vulnerable moment in the process, they needn’t have worried.

“I showed [the selfie] to her in between pushes and she cracked up,” Solano said. Following the birth of their daughter Eva—whom Solano said is as pretty as her mother—Solano entertained Sarah by reading her the comments on his Reddit post.

While Sarah’s mother snapped a more proper photo about 10 minutes later, something tells us this might end up being their favorite.
