You know what they say: If you like it, then you should have put a #ring on it.

Bloomingdale’s apparently fancies itself a teen-friendly jewelry destination. In a bid to outdo the hordes of viral jewelry on Etsy, the retailer is currently offering an 18-karat “Khai Khai Diamond Hashtag Ring” for $825. Fittingly enough, this Internet-savvy bauble is itself going viral.

What is Khai Khai? Is $825 a fair price for 18 karats? Will this ring fit your spouse’s finger? Is jewelry nothing more than the triumph of materialism over philosophical richness—a reflection of capitalism finally vanquishing the “good life” of which Aristotle spoke? None of that matters. This is a gold ring with a diamond shaped like a hashtag.

There’s never been a better way to ask someone, “Will you be meme?”
