Tough times in Sarasota, Fla., for ABC 7 reporter Josh Taylor. Out doing a segment on a potential rental scam on Siesta Key a few weeks ago, he’s approached by a neighbor who makes it known he’s not welcome.
Taylor tells the woman to settle down, but she’s not having it, and grabs his tripod before heading to his van. She throws the tripod into his van, shrugs her shoulders, and climbs in. Then takes on down the road before leaving it idling in a parking lot down the street.
She comes back a few minutes later to find that Taylor’s called the cops.
“Well tell them to get your car,” she says. “Get in your car and leave.”
Taylor wrote a news item about the incident in which he flips between first and third person and says the woman, whose name is Jean Price, was trying to protect her neighbor, a local chiropractor named Dr. Craig Siegal, who’d rented a house by advertising it as an 11-bedroom even though it was really fit for five.
He added that the State’s Attorney’s office will decide if Price will be charged with Grand Theft Auto. Police have not yet gone public with a decision.
