'I will fight anybody who dares to tell me this isn't the best goddamn movie in the world.'

Boat crashes, almost illicit sexual behavior, and face swapping—nope, we’re not talking about Snapchat’s latest lenses. These three things together can mean only one other thing: John Woo’s 1997 classic movie Face/Off.

For many people, the ludicrous film—starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage as an FBI agent and a terrorist, respectively—is a cult favorite. The two men swap faces (before the teens of today made it cool again) to let the FBI get some intel on a bomb. This eventually leads to some ridiculous action, like a preposterous boat collision and a strange showdown in a church featuring white doves fluttering around.

Woo’s masterpiece has a stellar 92-percent Rotten Tomatoes score, establishing itself as one of those weird ’90s films that you really must watch before you die. And that’s a belief clearly shared by one excited film student.

On Thursday night, FX Movie Download host Sasha Perl-Raver shared a paragraph from a paper submitted to her film professor friend. His reaction to Face/Off  is as epic as the movie itself.

There are so many amazing parts to this nine-line paragraph. Between “so fucking John Woo you don’t even know” and the sincere “It’s bananas!” this student really gets it. Face/Off is so astounding that this student nearly peed their pants the first time they watched it.

We’re with you, kid. Anyone who can confidently turn in a paper with phrases like “almost incest” and “I will fight anybody who dares to tell me this isn’t the best goddamn movie in the world” deserves an A in our book.

We can’t wait for this student to make it as a professional film critic. We need fresh voices like this.
