Fundamental misunderstanding of other people’s religions has led to hate crimes, war, terrorist attacks, and countless other acts of atrocity, but finally, we’ve gotten something to smile about.

BuzzFeed sat down with a handful of Jews and Christians and asked each to explain Christmas or Hanukkah—whichever holiday they don’t celebrate.

There are plenty of priceless gems in the “Christmas Explained by Jews” take, including edible mistletoe, “bells everywhere,” and our favorite mispronunciation of “hymns” ever, but we have to admit they fared better than their Christian counterparts trying to explain Hanukkah.

These guys don’t even know where to start with the Festival of Lights, but at least they got the most crucial Jewish tradition of all: Adam Sandler. And that’s the true meaning of Christmas. (We think.)
