You won’t believe how much Cards Against Humanity made on its Black Friday prank

This isn't what we expected.

Cards Against Humanity, the immensely popular “party game for horrible people,” just got a lot of something for nothing.

The company announced the results of this year’s Black Friday “deal”—in which you could pay $5 for literally nothing—in a post on its website.

11,248 people gave us $5, and 1,199 people gave us more than $5 by filling out the form more than once. One enthusiastic fan gave us $100. In the end, we made a windfall profit of $71,145.

As the company has a long history of charitable work, including donating the proceeds from last year’s bullshit prank to Heifer International, but this year, the employees decided to keep it all. They posted their itemized receipts on the website, and the purchases range from delightful to absurd: An expensive sex toy, piano lessons, kitty litter, a laptop, scotch, a bulk buy of Tylenol, and baseball tickets all made the cut.

But astute readers will also note that each member of the team carved out a chunk of cash for the charity of his or her choice, like the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, PAWS Chicago, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network, and Planned Parenthood. The latter choice is particularly poignant considering the attack at the Colorado Springs clinic; various branches of the Planned Parenthood network took in over $6,000 from the CAH team. One person also donated to the Syrian Refugee Response, and several took a portion of their earnings in small bills to hand out to homeless people on the streets.

So next time someone tries to call Cards Against Humanity a good-for-nothing game, feel free to agree.
