We’re closer to Father’s Day than Mother’s Day at this point, but any parent—scratch that, anyone with a soul—will be touched by this reunion.

A veterinarian and biologist from the Marine Mammal Center in San Luis Obispo, California, managed the difficult feat of locating an otter mom after she lost her days-old pup in Morro Bay, according to a Facebook post. They were able to make the match because the mama otter responded to the baby’s squeaks, and the pair seem only too grateful for the help.

If you’re confused about that pup toss, never fear: It was a calculated move.

And there you have it: Mom and pup, together again, free to swim and play and cuddle to their hearts’ content. What could be better than that?
