They did say it was 'nicely constructed.'

New Yorkers are a hardy group. Hit them with an historic blizzard and they’ll not only find a way to get through it, they’ll find a way to make it profitable.

Patrick Horton of Brooklyn no doubt spent a long time constructing what he called a “Boutique Winter Igloo for 2” before listing it for $200 a night on Airbnb. The listing quickly went viral, appearing all over the Internet, and Horton got several offers from people seeking to actually rent the icy dwelling.

And we gotta admit, it does look pretty cozy.

Regretfully, those spoilsports at Airbnb had to delete the listing, which did not meet their occupancy standards. They seemed genuinely sorry about it when they emailed Horton, though:

We are happy to see that you guys are staying busy and having fun during Blizpocalypse. Unfortunately, your igloo, while very well constructed, has failed to meet our occupancy standards and has been removed from search results.

As an appreciator of fine Igloos around the world, I did want to offer you a coupon you that you can use to book your first reservation as a guest.

So if nothing else, Horton saved 50 bucks on his next Airbnb stay. There’s also nothing stopping him from listing his construction on Craigslist, where they have, well, slightly lower standards.

Horton seems to be dealing fairly well with his newfound fame, at least on Twitter, where he took a moment to reflect on how quickly these things can snowball.
