On social news site Reddit, a post lives and dies by the votes it receives.

The more orange up-arrows each one receives, the higher probability a post has of reaching the coveted front page of the site. By contrast, with too many blue down-arrows, a post becomes increasingly irrelevant, buried beneath hundreds, if not thousands, of other submissions.

While these votes are given out with simple clicks of the mouse, a growing population of Reddit users have made this mundane task far more entertaining.

Through dozens of GIF animations, the act of giving a Reddit post a vote has been turned into artistic adventures of epic proportions.

Take, for example, this GIF from The Last Crusade of Indiana Jones falling through the floor as he searches for the Holy Grail. Instead of rocks crumbling underneath Jones’ feet as he struggles to climb back up, blue downvote arrows shower out from underneath him.

The following are the greatest Reddit upvote/downvote GIFs ever created.

1) Attack on Avatar

2) Downvoting the world

3) Vote-crazed assassin

4) Bending an arrow

5) Terry Crews casts his vote

6) Lit up

7) Captain America can’t handle the downvote

8) Iron Man gets his gun off

9) Kitty getting down

10) Luke Skywalker’s secret weapon

11) Terminating all reposts

12) Watching the votes pile up

13) An itch Shaq can’t scratch

14) Jim Carrey isn’t laughing now

15) The dance of the upvote

16) Breaking bottles
