Some of YouTube‘s biggest stars are coming together on World Suicide Prevention Day in a pledge to break down the social stigma that keeps people from seeking help for suicidal thoughts.
Margaret Cho, Chris Kluwe, Philip DeFranco, Hannah Hart, and many other YouTubers have joined forces with What’s Trending and The Trevor Project, an organization that provides suicide prevention services and crisis intervention to young people in the LGBTQ community, for the Talk to Me campaign.
“World Suicide Prevention Day provides an incredible opportunity for many more people to learn how just 3 simple words – Talk to Me – can help save a life,” said Trevor Project CEO Abbe Land in a press release.
The 90-second video also features Michael Buckley, Lucas Cruikshank, and Davey Wavey pledging that they will be there if anyone needs to talk and they will listen without judgment, and encouraging viewers to make the same commitment to the people in their lives.
This is the third year that What’s Trending has been involved with the Trevor Project, but host Shira Lazar is especially proud of those who came together to take the Talk to Me pledge.
“It is a real testament to the value of the Trevor Project that so many of this generation’s brightest YouTube stars are a part of such a great cause,” Lazar said.
