We trolled dudes on Tinder as #TheDress and here’s what happened

"What color am I? Also, I love anal."

I think we can all agree that #TheDress has brought out the best in all of us. It’s cranked up the social media smarm-o-meter to 11. It’s made us ignore real things that were happening in the world. It’s even ruined relationships and potential sexual encounters. Last Thursday, the Dress almost became the thing that broke the internet for good.

But trolls gonna troll, so our fearless Lifestyle editor EJ Dickson and I decided to take our trolling talents to Tinder. We both changed our profiles to photos of #TheDress, to see if the viral sensation would make dudes more or less creepy than ever.

To sweeten the pot, EJ added the ultimate Tinder trolling line to her profile: “Also, I love anal.”

Could the dress be the catalyst for a new relationship? Or would it prompt a messaging battle of epic proportions?

We were in agreement that the dress was, in fact, white and gold. With that in mind, we set off on our mission to see if dudes on Tinder would abandon their usual mission of trying to send us dick pics, and regale us with their thoughts on #TheDress.

Some either saw it one way or the other.

Others had more complex opinions.

While some were adorably clueless.

But one man had the bleakest outlook at all.

The conversation wasn’t all that stimulating, but it was still an improvement over the usual Tinder chatter. Until we received the following messages:

Everyone, relax. Men are still being gross on Tinder. Everything has been restored to its right place, and all is right with the world.
