An unnamed police deputy in Washington is the subject of much positive attention after being photographed sharing his lunch with a homeless man in Pierce County. The officer didn’t know he was being photographed and has since declined to be identified.

Area detective Ed Troyer told Fox 31 Denver that the officer had encountered the man panhandling several times in the past. So he decided to approach him and offer him part of his sandwich.

The public is responding positively to the picture. Here are two of the Facebook comments on the photo:

I hope to hear about this mentioned on the evening news tonight. They are quick to report on the tragic stuff (and we do need to be informed!) but the good stuff is often not reported. Kudos to this officer and all of the other good cops out there. Thank you.

Not only is this officer sharing a sandwich but lately I have heard of our Sheriff’s Dept officers handing out Subway gift cards to homeless folks. Pierce County Sheriff’s Dept rocks!

And here’s the picture that’s gotten everyone’s attention:

Tina Fey was right. All anyone really wants in this life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich.
