A barbeque joint in Colorado is firing up the grills and people’s tempers over the announcement of a “White Appreciation Day.”
Rubbin’ Buttz BBQ, which is the real name of a real restaurant in Milliken, Co., said that on June 11 white customers would receive a 10 percent discount on account of their whiteness. The reaction on Twitter is split between raging racists feeling they’ve been given a sweet, sweet gift, and people outraged that these business owners feel white people require any more recognition.

But here’s the twist: The owner of the unfortunately-named establishment is Hispanic. Edgar Antillon did an interview with NBC affiliate KUSA in which he defended his questionable day.
“We have a whole month for black history month,” Antillon told KUSA. “We have a whole month for Hispanic heritage month so we figured all we could do—the least we can do—is to offer one day to appreciate white Americans.”
He also said “We’re all American—plain and simple—whether you come from a different country or you were born here.”
But perhaps the Internet’s biggest troll has the final word.
