A romantic night out with your significant other usually calls for an extra dose of gloss and polish. Thanks to scores of YouTube makeup tutorials geared around Valentine’s Day (or any romantic night out, really!), there’s no shortage of makeup techniques to try. Whether it’s a sultry smoked-out-wing or a vampy red lip, the right makeup technique can make any outfit pop.

Here are some notable YouTube makeup tutorials to try for your upcoming date night:

1) Red glitter eyeshadow

Lady Gaga’s ruby-red eyeshadow took center-stage when she sang the National Anthem during Superbowl 50. Luckily, Dutch hair and makeup artist Nikkie of Nikkie Tutorials has come out with a helpful YouTube makeup tutorial on how to recreate Lady Gaga’s bold Superbowl makeup. It’s a roughly 10-minute process, but is well worth it when you see your megawatt crimson peepers in the mirror for the first time.

2) Smoked-out wing

Winged eyeliner may be trendy now thanks to the likes of Adele and Amy Winehouse, but the makeup technique has actually spanned the centuries. From Cleopatra to Marilyn Monroe to Angelina Jolie, women throughout the ages have donned iconic cat-eyes for many a seductive scenario. For a new twist, YouTube makeup guru Desi Perkins  demonstrates how to apply a “smoked-out wing” using a small shader brush, your favorite eyeshadow, and mascara.

3) Subtle eyes and a red lip

Lisa Cimorelli displays two different makeup looks in this Valentine’s Day makeup tutorial. Both are subtle and feminine and would suit virtually any skin tone. You’ll learn how to apply a smokey eye and a pink glossy lip and then master a simple gold eye and a bright red lip.

4) Cool-toned full face

Instead of going for subtle or understated, let’s say you want to dial your look up several notches? YouTube makeup mastermind Donovan Gibb shows you how to rock multi-dimensional eyeshadow and Lime Crime’s stunning Cashmere lip color (matte greige) without hurting yourself. Gibb mentions that such a bold and dramatic pairing won’t suit anyone, but if you want to be attention-grabbing then you can’t go wrong with this on-trend pairing.

5) Red glossy eyes

Red eyeshadow doesn’t have to be flamboyant; it can also be seductive and surreal, as Beyonce demonstrated in her iconic music video for “Formation”. Style and health guru Linda F of JaMexicanBeauty  showed viewers how to recreate the red, glossy “Formation”-style eye makeup that Bey rocked in the video. You’ll need Fuego’s red eyeshadow and a little bit of patience, but being closer to Queen Bey will be well worth it.
