Imagine if your favorite erotic literature came to life through a vibrator. A small French startup called B.Sensory is developing a sex toy that will make this a reality.
The sex toy will, according to its website, allow you to “succumb to the pleasure of erotic literature” via Bluetooth connection. It’s a simple yet novel idea: B.Sensory is a reading app that can be downloaded onto a smartphone or tablet and connects to a vibrator called the Little Bird. The app lets you choose a new erotic story or “vibrant” to read and lets you control and play with words by shaking, caressing, or breathing on your device’s screen.
These text triggers are then transmitted to the sex toy, which vibrates in accordance with the story’s intensity. You can change or stop the vibrations or replay a sequence any time you want.
“Being a great fan of erotic literature, I had the desire to combine the power of words [with] the potential of connected devices by creating a new way of reading and having fun alone or [as a] couple,” said Christel Le Coq, Founder and CEO of B.Sensory. “A simple and previously unseen concept was born: read and feel.”

The Little Bird is highly portable, USB-rechargeable, and made of ultra-soft medical silicone, making it easy to use. It comes with ten vibration modes and is supposedly quiet and discreet enough that you can use it in public.
No one will know you are getting off reading French short stories while you’re taking the subway to work.
Although the sex-toy-and-app combo is primarily designed to elevate your erotic literature experience, you can do away with reading altogether and just use the Little Bird as a traditional remote-controlled vibrator. You can even get a partner involved and have them control the sex toy’s responses.
Given that B.Sensory is based in super-sexy France, one would assume that the company was seeing massive success with its Indiegogo campaign to get the device mass-produced. Unfortunately, that is not the case.
“In France, there are still a lot of people who do not understand and are unaware of crowdfunding,” Le Coq told the Daily Dot via email. “Not only are they wary and afraid of not receiving the product, they also regard buying sex toys as taboo. They prefer to wait for the product to be marketed properly so they can order it discreetly.”
Le Coq said she knew crowdfunding would set things into motion faster, but admitted that the project would have done better had her company contacted enough foreign journalists to spread the word around the world.
Despite the lackluster response on Indiegogo, Le Coq said that her company has the necessary funding to continue development of the Little Bird, and B.Sensory’s website will soon begin taking pre-orders.
Currently, the app only has erotic content in French, but Le Coq confirmed that B.Sensory planned to cater to other languages.
“We hope to present the Little Bird at CES in Las Vegas in January to begin the internationalization of the service,” she said.
