Well, this is awkward.
Tim Tebow posted a video on social media late Thursday denying Donald Trump's claim that the quarterback will be speaking at the Republican National Convention next week.

A list of the speakers Trump promised to appear at the convention were published by the New York Times on Wednesday. The announcement included an A-list collection of Trump's friends and family, including Tebow.

But RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer told CNN on Friday that Tebow was "out" as a speaker. This after Tebow directly addressed the rumors:

"It's amazing how fast rumors fly, and that's exactly what it is—a rumor," Tebow said.

Tebow, who won two national championships, the Heisman Trophy, and is known for the "Tebowing" pose, is a free agent and has recently hinted at a return to the NFL.

The former NFL quarterback says he plans to divert his political views and focus toward helping others. He did not endorse Trump's presidential candidacy in the video.

"My goal has always been to make a difference in the biggest way possible, and if one day that's a political realm then that's what I'll do," Tebow said. "But right now I really believe that that's through my foundation and our amazing partners, and fighting for kids that can't fight for themselves."

Tebow concludes his video with a "God bless America." At press time, Trump has yet to address the apparent change in programming.
