Six days into his new job, Donald Trump’s legacy is already clear to many Americans according to a new national poll: Many think he’s going to be the worst president of the last 45 years.
Public Policy Polling’s newest national poll asked voters to compare Trump to his predecessors. The results show the majority of people don’t have much confidence in him.
When asked if Trump will be a better president than Barack Obama, 48 percent chose Obama (and 43 percent went with Trump).

In their appraisals of his job performance so far, 44 percent of voters approve Trump while 44 percent disapprove, but when it comes to his favorability ratings, 44 percent see him in a positive light while 50 percent hold a negative opinion of him. As the PPP writes, “These are historically awful numbers for a newly elected President.”
Meanwhile, those who participated in last week’s Women’s March on Washington were viewed positively by 50 percent of voters (41 percent viewed them poorly).
As for the border wall Trump announced he would build, PPP found only 34 percent of voters wanted it, and 53 percent didn’t. When it comes to Obamacare, 45 percent of voters support it and 41 percent don’t (only 30 percent of people believe the best action is to repeal it and start over).
As for whether Trump should be impeached his first week into the job, 35 percent say yes and 50 percent say no. PPP said it will continue to follow that specific line of polling.

But perhaps the most surprising result tracked by the PPP—especially in the wake of the Hillary Clinton email scandal—was this.

The rest of the PPP’s poll results are fascinating, including questions about Russia and whether it’s acceptable to punch a Nazi in the face. Hint: Only 18 percent of voters think it’s acceptable, while 31 percent are “unsure on the moral quandary of our times.”
