Excited about Donald Trump releasing his medical records on the Dr. Oz Show today? We have some bad news.
(Editor's note: Never mind, see update below.)
The 70-year-old Republican presidential nominee ditched a plan to release details of his physical exam during Wednesday's filming of Dr. Oz, according to Trump campaign aides, including spokeswoman Hope Hicks.
Dr. Mehmet Oz, the show's host, told Fox News host Brian Kilmeade on Tuesday that Trump would reveal at least portions of his recent physical exam on his show. Trump will still appear on Dr. Oz, but he will focus on general health rather than his specific health status.
Candidates' health has become a major talking point in the 2016 election after 68-year-old Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton appeared weak upon exiting a 9/11 memorial ceremony in Manhattan on Sunday. Clinton's personal physician later said the candidate was suffering from pneumonia. The campaign has since come under fire for not revealing Clinton's illness earlier.
Trump and his supporters had repeatedly questioned Clinton's health status prior to Sunday's incident. It is currently unclear why the Trump campaign has decided to not discuss his physical exam on Dr. Oz, however the campaign says they will reveal more details about his health “soon.” The Clinton campaign has also promised to release more of her medical records.
Update: 11:54am CT, Sept. 14: After Trump's campaign said the Republican nominee would not discuss his physical exam during a taping of Dr. Oz, the candidate surprised him with a one-page summary, reports CNN Money. The campaign reportedly plans to release the details of Trump's physical exam, conducted last week by Dr. Harold N. Bornstein, on Thursday.
