There's no shame in this pain.

Infertility struggles are often kept a secret, with stigma and shame stopping many women from opening up about their pain and disappointment.

But Macy Rodeffer has been chronicling her infertility on Instagram for some time, and she’s no shrinking violet.

Whether she’s flipping the bird to the pain of needles:

Or crooning a melancholy tune to get herself through another IVF dose:

🎶 Hello needles my old friend. I must get stabbed by you again. 🎶

Or giving the Friends theme song a new set of lyrics:
Rodeffer is very frank and open about her treatment. And her story has a very happy ending.

Bloopers. 😂

Inspired by a woman who staged a similar photograph last year, Rodeffer decided to make a pregnancy announcement that puts the truth of her journey front and center.
Rodeffer also shared her heartwarming story on her blog with a Mother's Day post. There, she offered words of encouragement to others who struggle with infertility.

"To my sisters, the mothers that don't get recognized on Mother's Day, know that you are mommies," she said. "As much as anyone else. Fighters and warriors and the bravest women I know, your struggle is not forgotten, and neither are you."

A few short years ago, this might have been done with a cake that was either pink or blue on the inside, or, hell, an “It’s a girl” email. But those sorts of things can’t go viral now, can they?
