Penn State kicker Joey Julius is showing the internet that there is no “type” when it comes to those who suffer from eating disorders.

Early Monday morning, the beloved athlete, who’s already had two hard-hitting kickoffs go viral this season, “decided to go public” with why he was absent from the team in the spring and summer, writing on Facebook that he has had bouts with bulimia and suffers from a binge-eating disorder.

Julius said his weight gain also made him feel depressed and anxious. “My team physicians started to notice not only a change in my overall happiness but also my performance as a normal human being,” he wrote.

He went into treatment this summer and is encouraging anyone struggling with similar issues to message him.
