A futuristic Zorro reboot is in the works—again.

Zorro Reborn has been stuck in development for a few years, but The Hollywood Reporter says that it will begin filming in 2016.

The reboot takes the idea of Zorro as a rebellious masked hero and puts him in a post-apocalyptic, near-future setting. Considering the popularity of superhero movies and post-apocalyptic settings, we’re amazed it took this long to get the project off the ground.

Gael Garcia Bernal was cast in the lead role in 2012, although the new project is likely to proceed with a different actor. Zorro Reborn doesn’t have a director, either, but we may already have some idea of how it will look. This proof-of-concept trailer starring Peruvian actor Jason Day leaked online a few years ago, and it showed something like a cross between Daredevil, District 9, and yes, classic Zorro.
