Gamers and toy nerds both have something to cheer about, as the list of armies for the tower-defense game Toy Soldiers: War Chest just got much better.
Ubisoft saved the best for last following the announcement of an Aug. 11 release date for War Chest, the third game in the Toy Soldiers tower defense franchise. The company announced that the game will feature Assassin’s Creed and Cobra Command playable armies.
The Assassin’s Creed army is welcome news for all fans of the Toy Soldiers publisher, while the Cobra Command army—which we all knew was coming when G.I. Joe and He-Man were also added as armies—is a glorious thing to behold.
In the Toy Soldiers games, two armies fight for control over a diorama that looks like something a model train builder might put together. The bad guys throw their armies at your base on your end of the toy box, and you have to hold them off. The original Toy Soldiers was modeled after World War I toys. Toy Soldiers: Cold War was a continuous 1980s Reagan-era Rambo-esque cultural reference.
Cold War was a hit with critics. Now players will get to mess around with G.I. Joe, He-Man, Assassin’s Creed, and Cobra Command.
The G.I. Joe, He-Man, Cobra, and Assassin’s Creed armies don’t ship with the $15 standard copy of Toy Soldiers: War Chest. They’ll cost $5 each, $15 as a pack of four, or, if you already know you want all four bonus armies, you can just buy the game and the extra armies as a “Hall of Fame” edition for $30.
Toy Soldiers: War Chest will be released for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on Aug. 11.
