‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ star joins the cast of ‘Star Wars Rebels’

Star Wars has just added a vampire slayer to its universe. Disney has announced that actress Sarah Michelle Gellar will join the Star Wars Rebels cast for season two of the Disney XD animated series.

According to EW, the announcement of the Buffy the Vampire Slayer star’s casting came during Disney Media’s sales and marketing presentations on Tuesday.

“We’re thrilled to have Sarah Michelle Gellar on board for season two,” said Star Wars Rebels executive producer Dave Filoni. “She is a true Star Wars Rebels fan and her passion undoubtedly comes through in the voice recording sessions.”

Gellar joins her husband Freddie Prinze Jr., who stars on the show as the Jedi Kanan Jarrus. She took to social media to share the news as well.

Details regarding the character Gellar will be voicing have yet to be revealed.

Star Wars Rebels just completed its first season Monday with a finale that saw the return of Darth Vader and revealed the identity of the mysterious rebel contact Fulcrum.
