With pretty much every major comic book series getting a movie nowadays, what adaptations can be given to properties that aren’t Batman or Spider-Man? Video games of course.

In a recent interview with The Verge, the creative mind behind Image Comics’ Saga, Brian K Vaughan, said he was open to the idea of a video game based on his crazy world.

During the one-hour chat, Vaughan mentioned his admiration for gaming as a medium for pushing story.

“And that’s actually something that has come up. A Saga video game, particularly if it’s sort of about characters other than the main characters in our story, is really exciting to me — even more exciting than a film or TV show. So, uh, never say never.”

With the recent success of TellTale’s The Wolf Among Us, also based on a popular comic series, story-based adventure games may become the next great avenue to expand the comics universe.

Saga has been hailed as one of the best comics published in 2014. It won the Eisner Award earlier this year for best ongoing series. The story is unabashed in portraying its disgusting, violent, and bleak world. That’s probably why it has garnered such a following. Very few comics are willing to go as far as Saga.

A game based on the story could make quite an impact.
