Markus “Notch” Persson just paid $70 million for the most expensive megamansion ever built in Beverly Hills. And he paid lower than the asking price.

If you ever wonder what obscenely wealthy people do with their money, they buy a house that includes a movie theater, a candy room filled with towers of M&Ms, several bars, a showroom for cars, and 15 bathrooms. The asking price on this house was $85 million, and Beyoncė and Jay Z were some of the top bidders. You apparently can’t beat Minecraft money, however.

On Sept. 15, 2014 Microsoft announced that it had purchased Mojang, the Swedish game studio that created Minecraft, for $2.5 billion. That was the price tag to own a game that started out as something a game developer was tooling around with for fun. Notch never intended for Minecraft to become a cultural icon and one of the most popular video games ever made, but he rapidly ceased to have any say in the matter once the video game community got their hands in Minecraft.

That community essentially paid for Notch’s new fortress/palace of hedonism. You can check out a huge spread of images from his new digs here.
