Don’t expect your antacid tablets to go “plop plop fizz fizz” in space.
In the latest example of ordinary tasks working a bit differently in zero gravity, International Space Station astronaut Terry Virts tested out both NASA‘s new RED Epic Dragon Camera and the scientific concept of water tension in microgravity by sticking an antacid tablet into a water bubble.
We already knew that a water bubble could handle a GoPro inside it, but in this video, we learned that one could also contain the reactions of an antacid tablet—which are explosive enough to transform it into a small, wet disco ball.
Just like a regular disco ball, we can’t look away.
