Mark Hamill is the voice for the Joker and Luke Skywalker and it’s weird

I sense a major disturbance in the voice.

In the years since he made his name playing Luke Skywalker in the original Star Wars trilogy, Mark Hamill has done a lot of voice acting.

One of his most well-known voice roles is the Joker in Batman: The Animated Series and the spinoff video games. This gives him the unique opportunity and expertise to perform a scenario that would otherwise only exist in fanfiction: Luke Skywalker vs. the Joker.

During an interview last week, Hamill recreated the famous “I am your father” scene with the Joker as Darth Vader. It’s straight-up awesome to watch, and kind of makes us wish that Mark Hamill could play a really cartoonish, old-school version of the Joker in a live-action Batman movie. Too bad Gotham is likely to take the gritty realism route instead.

With many more Mark Hamill publicity appearances happening in the run-up to the new Star Wars movie, can we hope to see more Batman/Star Wars action? Here’s hoping.
