BioWare nailed Mass Effect 3’s four-player co-op so hard that it was almost better than the rest of the game. News that Dragon Age: Inquisition will also have four-player co-op is therefore extremely welcome.

Being excited about this is a leap of faith, but the description of the game mode sounds like Mass Effect 3’s co-op, improved. Instead of being on relatively tight maps facing waves of enemies, co-op play in Dragon Age: Inquisition is structured around campaigns.

They might only have a fraction of the depth of the single-player campaign, but Mass Effect 3’s multiplayer missions were meant to take place in the shadow of the larger story. If Dragon Age: Inquisition’s multiplayer is structured around story rather than survival, it stands to reason that it might feel even better integrated into the single-player adventure.

Dragon Age: Inquisition will be released on Nov. 18 for PC, PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
