Would you have done better in chemistry class with the aid of videos offering magnified, high-definition views of what was happening inside those test tubes? Hell, you’d probably be a Nobel-winning scientist by now. Take a gander and think of what might have been:

The short film above is part of a project called Beautiful Chemistry, a collaboration between Institute of Advanced Technology at the University of Science and Technology of China and Tsinghua University Press that seeks to give the layperson a greater appreciation of the microscopic wonders that make up our world. And because it’s so cool, we had to make GIFs:
