OK, we’ve seen our share of seasonal Attack on Titan references, but this local Target display has us stumped. Is it hilarious or terrifying? Or a grim mix of both?

Andrewplayspiano had a weird Thanksgiving, if his Tumblr is any indication. “The Attack on Titan Santa is back at my local Target,” he wrote when he shared this hilarious picture of a colossal Santa–not to be confused with the Colossal Titan.

Let’s take a closer look:

As department store Christmas displays go, this isn’t that over-the-top, but as a replication of the famous scene from Attack on Titan where the Colossal Titan peeks over Wall Maria at our hero Eren Yeager, it’s downright eerie:

If you’re an anime fan, you probably already know that Attack on Titan is the hottest anime in recent memory. It’s been the most-reblogged anime on Tumblr for the last two years straight, and the manga on which it’s based is already one of the bestselling titles of all time. There’s a loosely related live-action film franchise spinning off next year, and the behemoth fandom has spawned a staggering amount of creative fanwork, including re-enactments, dance routines, figure skating cosplay, and more.

It’s even spawned a piece of viral Christmas art based off the fateful scene by Tumblr user muldraws:

But we’re not sure humanity is ready for the jolly reminder they receive walking into that Target—unless the goal is to scare them into preparing for the titan apocalypse.
