With over 72 hours of footage uploaded every minute, it’s physically impossible to keep track of the content on YouTube. But in YouTube Guide, the Daily Dot will curate its five favorite finds for each workday.
1) Pogo, "Lead Breakfast"
In a May interview with the Daily Dot, Australian remix artist Nick "Pogo" Bertke explained that he composes his epic YouTube cut-reels by piecing together key elements of small sounds into a musical jigsaw puzzle. Perhaps that's why "Lead Breakfast," his 3:38 remix of Quentin Tarantino's 1994 classic Pulp Fiction manages to do so much with so little. Pogo only pulls five lines from the movie for the main hook on the track, but the result is both intricate and expansive.
2) Matt Harding, "Where the Hell is Matt? 2012"
Matt Harding returns from another multi-continental sashay around the planet with a new video, "Where the Hell is Matt? 2012." It's been a long time coming for this YouTube stalwart, whose last noncommercial full-length video came two years ago from South Africa. This round, Harding visits such exotic locales as Iraq; Zimbabwe; League City, Texas; and the Baltimore Zoo—all set to Alicia Lemke's carousing single "Trip the Light."
3) Freddiew, "8-Bitham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter"
Freddie Wong and his band of animators turn the preposterously titled Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter into an 8-bit video game wherein the Great Emancipator hops trains, chops down giant trees, and takes a giant axe to more than a few John Wilkes vampires.Wong says it's a prelude to tomorrow's Video Game High School, out at 9:30am PT, but the remake's worth its own mention.
4) Daily Grace, "Thanks for 200,000"
A hoarse Grace Helbig passed 200,000 subscribers, and the My Damn Channel star's chosen to celebrate the monumental occasion by reviewing her audience. "I just want to thank you guys for being the absolute best people, and I appreciate you all watching these videos so much," she said. "You're so dedicated, and sometimes mean, and really sweet, and hurtful." Helbig rattles off a number of other distinctions and accolades she wishes to bestow upon her crowd, but the sentiment is clear: She couldn't have done it without her fans, no matter how sick and deranged they may be.
5) Epic Meal Time, "Squeaky Grease Sandwiches"
Want to make a bacon cheeseburger poutine sandwich slathered in Marker's Mark and special sowce? Tune into this week's Epic Meal Time, where the boys tackle the composition of just about every possible super-mondo artery blocker lunch option. Some of the concoctions are listed to have over 12,000 calories a serving, while others are covered in so much gravy that you can already feel your blood system letting up.
