You may know Hannah Hart as the drunk host of the My Drunk Kitchen YouTube series. But in addition to her ability to outdrink Julia Childs, Hart is also a wonderful singer/songwriter who loves her some Internet.

On Thursday she debuted the music video, “Oh, Internet,” a love song cowritten by Creator and Distractor in the old doo-wop tradition of the Flamingos’ “I Only Have Eyes For You.”

While there are certainly some funny lines here (“You just don’t get it cause you’re not on reddit “), what’s most striking about “Oh, Internet” is its apparent sincerity. In Hart’s love affair with the Web, Twitter staves off loneliness, the refresh button is like a drug, and there’s even a special place in her heart for automated bill pay.

According to the video’s YouTube description, “Oh, Internet” started off as an anti-Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) song. But Hart’s universal message of Internet love speaks louder than a song tied to just one issue could. Instead, the focus is on why the Web is worth saving in the first place, a point that can sometimes get lost in political discussions over anti-piracy legislation.

We’ll have to wait to see if “Oh, Internet” reaches the million-hit heights of some of Hart’s My Drunk Kitchen videos, but at least one YouTube user is a fan (we think). The current top comment reads, “You’re fast becoming the drunk lesbian David Bowie.” Play on, Thin White Drunk.
