Note to NFL quarterbacks: If you’re going to compare yourself to other QB’s in the game, leave Tom Brady out of it.

On Tuesday New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning said he deserves to be in the same class as three-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady, according to ESPN.

“I consider myself in that class,” Manning told Michael Kay on ESPN New York 1050. “I think now he’s grown up and gotten better every year and that’s what I’m trying to do. I kind of hope these next seven years of my quarterback days are my best.”

The quote has set off a firestorm on Twitter where thousands of people made Manning a trending topic. Most people think he’s delusional, while others think the comparison is spot on. The Super Bowl winning quarterback for the Giants has been mentioned more than 3,000 times in the last 24 hours, according to statistics from Topsy, a social media search engine. Even the official NFL Twitter account has weighed in on the comparison.

“Eli Manning isn’t better than Tom Brady in fantasy, or reality,” tweeted the account, which directed people to a blog from Michael Fabiano.

Here are some tweets that caught the Daily Dot’s attention.
