Here at the Daily Dot, we swap GIF images with each other every morning. Now we’re looping you in. In the Morning GIF, we feature a popular—or just plain cool—GIF we found on Reddit, Canvas, or elsewhere on the Internet.

Together again for the first time: two long-dead sensations enjoying current fad status thanks to 3-D revivals. Yes, it’s Tupac Shakur and the Titanic, larger than life and far more animated than they’ve been for 15 and 100 years, respectively.

Shakur, of course, resurfaced holographically at Coachella on April 15, making a much more convincing debut than CNN’s Jessica Yellin when she “holographically” reported on the Obama campaign back in 2008.

The Titanic is back in the news because April 15 was the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the unsinkable ship, an event variously attributed to a mummy’s curse, the Illuminati, the Jesuits, or the large and dangerous iceberg that it unquestionably collided with in the North Atlantic. And, as all-powerful director James Cameron would like to remind us, there’s that 3-D movie that just came out.

We can only speculate what would have happened if these two titans of their different realms had met in real life. Here in the Morning GIF all is sweet harmony, as these greats meet at last in what is surely the definitive mashup of this week in historical holographic iconography. This GIF comes to us from the Best Roof Talk Ever Tumblr, where it has 7,961 notes and the remark, “Let 2012 be remembered as the year we brought the mid-nineties back to life with overpriced tickets to 3D renderings of things I thought I forgot about.”
