Modern Love has long been one of the New York Times’ most popular recurring columns, and now it’s evolving to include a podcast by the same name.
As with the column, each podcast episode will bring one person’s essay to the forefront to “explore the joys and tribulations of love,” and the Times is kicking things off with the help of celebrity guest readers.

The first two episodes were released simultaneously Thursday, and actress Lauren Molina and Seinfeld’s Jason Alexander are the first two guests to step in as readers: Alexander performed a 2009 essay about a dad’s relationship with his daughter’s pet goldfish, and Molina read a 2015 essay about an encounter with someone from Craigslist’s Missed Connections section. Judd Apatow, Sarah Paulson, Michael Shannon, and January Jones are all also slated to read for upcoming episodes.
At the end of each episode, host Meghna Chakrabarti, the chosen essayist, and Modern Love editor Daniel Jones sit down and have a chat about what’s happened since the story was published, and how the writer feels about it now.
Every Thursday, a new episode of Modern Love: The Podcast will be available on WBUR.org, NYTimes.com, iTunes, and Stitcher.
