The Gregory Brothers AutoTune Mitt Romney
The Gregory Brothers have found a surprisingly new outlet for its AutoTuned news—The New York Times.
YouTube’s viral mash-up kingpins penned an op-doc for the Tuesday edition of the renowned newspaper. It’s basically an extended summary of its latest video, “Mitt Likes Music, Including This.” The track gives the group’s trademark Songify treatment to a series of interview clips of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, in which he lists various things he likes, including but not limited to grits, American cars, being able to fire people, and The Three Stooges.
The family band wrote the following:
“Many have questioned how Mr. Romney’s likability, or lack thereof, will affect his electability. Perhaps his critics have not seen him deliver a speech. He likes everything; his ability to like is off the charts. And to combat President Obama’s sprawling pledges, he has ratcheted up his likability to a blistering new level, repeatedly taking his pleasant message to diners, factories and town halls across our fair land.”
The Times appears to be more interested in pageviews than viral branding. The video is not available on YouTube or for embedding. (You can watch it here.)
As for the track itself, well, it’s going to take more than AutoTune to make Romney sing for younger voters.
