Tune in now to Coachella on YouTube
If you didn’t want to shell out $300 or drive into the desert for a Coachella ticket, YouTube is streaming it for free.
Starting Friday afternoon with James, Givers, and honeyhoney, YouTube is broadcasting a select number of shows over three channels on a special channel. While the hip, annual music festival in sunny Indio, Calif. recently expanded to two weekends, YouTube is only streaming the first weekend.
For the event kicks off a summer of streaming music festivals on YouTube, including Bonnaroo in Tennessee, Lollapalooza in Chicago, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, and Austin City Limits.
So who can you check out from the comfort of your couch while not having beer flung on you?
On Friday, check out the highly anticipated reunions of Pulp and Refused, along with the Black Keys and M83.
Saturday highlights include Community rapper Childish Gambino and Azealia Banks, as Brit-punks Buzzcocks, and suave-pop masters Squeeze. Also look for Miike Snow, Kasabian, A$AP Rocky, and St. Vincent.
On Sunday, I’d recommend Santigold in the afternoon, then watching Portlandia star Carrie Brownstein’s band, Wild Flag, and the Hives. End the weekend with Florence and the Machine and breakout band, Gotye—if you aren’t sick of “Somebody I Used to Know.”
Enjoy the shows and revel in how much money you saved without the sunburn. We’ll see you there—on YouTube.
