After killing countless Bitcoin apps, it appears that Apple is now set to allow the cryptocurrency to come to iPhones and iPads.

Apple has updated its app developer guidelines. A new clause under section 11.17 reads:

Apps may facilitate transmission of approved virtual currencies provided that they do so in compliance with all state and federal laws for the territories in which the app functions.

That’s an explicit nod to Bitcoin if there ever was one. Bitcoin fans—including those who smashed their iPhones in protest of Apple’s stance—will be thrilled with the new move that will allow their currency of choice access to millions of Apple fans.
